Parasitiformes is an order[1][2][3][4] of Arachnids (treated as a suborder and superorder[5][6] in outdated classifications). They are one of two major groups called mites, alongside Acariformes. It is uncertain whether the two groups are closely related, and in many analyses they are recovered more closely related to other arachnids.[7] Amongst the best known members of the group are the ticks, though the Mesostigmata is the most diverse group, including economically important species such as the varroa mite.
